New Delhi, Feb 8 (NationPress) Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has advised captain Rohit Sharma to steer clear of complicating his batting technique amidst a worrying decline in performance.

Bangar suggests that Rohit should avoid overthinking his technique or engaging in excessive practice routines, and instead concentrate on reflecting on his past accomplishments to regain his rhythm.

During an appearance on Star Sports, Bangar emphasized that self-reflection and a straightforward approach would be more beneficial for Rohit compared to intensive training. “He is experiencing a phase in his career where scoring runs has become challenging. Over-practicing can sometimes be counterproductive. Spending some time alone to revisit the moments of his success, watching videos, and identifying his successful habits and routines could be invaluable,” Bangar remarked.

“These reflections can significantly aid in regaining one’s rhythm. It’s essential to remind oneself of what has worked in the past. He shouldn’t let desperation cloud his judgment,” he continued.

Rohit’s difficulties were highlighted once more during India’s opening ODI against England in Nagpur on Thursday. Although India achieved victory, the captain's early exit for merely two runs raised further alarms, particularly with the Champions Trophy approaching.

After a disappointing Test season, where he managed only 164 runs across eight innings at an average of 10.93, Rohit was anticipated to regain his form in the ODI format. Playing in his home city of Nagpur appeared to be an ideal chance to rebuild his confidence, yet his struggles continued.

With the Champions Trophy just around the corner, Rohit’s form slump has become a crucial topic of discussion. India will require their captain to be at his best during pivotal matches, and his recent form has only intensified worries regarding his confidence and rhythm.
