Baroda Achieves Record-Breaking T20 Total of 349/5 Against Sikkim in SMAT

Indore, Dec 5 (NationPress) Baroda has accomplished a remarkable feat by scoring 349 runs for five wickets in just 20 overs, marking the highest total in men's T20 history during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Sikkim at Emerald High School Ground on Thursday.
The previous record for the highest T20 score was maintained by Zimbabwe, which had amassed 344 runs against Gambia earlier this October.
With this achievement, Baroda has also become the first team to cross the 300-run threshold in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The former record for the highest team total in this tournament was held by Punjab, who scored 275 runs against Andhra Pradesh in the last edition.
Baroda reached the 300-run mark in just 17.2 overs, thanks to Bhanu Pania who scored a blistering century off 42 balls, concluding their innings at 349/5.
Pania remained unbeaten with a sensational score of 134 runs off just 51 balls, including five fours and 11 sixes. Other key contributions came from Abhimanyu Singh (53 off 17), Shivalik Sharma (55 off 17), and Vishnu Solanki (50 off 16), all of whom added valuable half-centuries to the total.
In achieving this world record total, Baroda also became the first Indian domestic team outside the IPL to score 100 runs within a T20 Powerplay. They notably hit a staggering 37 sixes throughout the match to reach this historic total.
