Jay Shah Expresses Joy Over Senior Indian Team Members Competing in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), expressed his delight at observing senior players from the men's national team participating in the current Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Their involvement offers a wealth of knowledge to aspiring cricketers within their state teams.

The 17th installment of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy features all 38 senior men’s state teams, with the tournament commencing on November 23. Punjab enters the contest as the defending champions after clinching the title last year. The teams have been divided into three groups, with eight teams, while seven others are placed in two groups each.
Currently, the league matches are taking place in Rajkot, Vishakhapatnam (including Vizianagaram), Hyderabad, Indore, and Mumbai, followed by knockout rounds scheduled for Bengaluru and Alur.
With players from the Test squad currently in Australia for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, this opens a unique opportunity for top-tier members of the Indian men’s team to represent their state teams in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, enhancing the competitiveness and intensity of the tournament.
The tournament has featured notable players such as Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Tilak Varma, Arshdeep Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ramandeep Singh, Krunal Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Rajat Patidar, Venkatesh Iyer, and Avesh Khan representing their respective state sides so far.
