Under the leadership of the determined captain Niki Prasad, the Indian squad remained undefeated throughout the tournament, demonstrating remarkable skill, composure, and authority. India played fearlessly, culminating in a decisive nine-wicket victory against South Africa in the final.
“The BCCI extends heartfelt congratulations to the India Under-19 women’s team for their impressive title defense at the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 in Malaysia,” stated the BCCI.
“To celebrate this historic accomplishment, the BCCI has announced a cash reward of INR 5 Crore for the winning team and support staff, headed by Head Coach Nooshin Al Khadeer,” the statement further explained.
“Congratulations to our girls for retaining the U19 Women’s World Cup. Their campaign has been commendable, as they remained unbeaten. We recognized their stellar performances at the Naman Awards last night, and today they have made us all proud. This trophy symbolizes the growth of women’s cricket in India, and I am thrilled to see each member excel in this tournament. I would like to once again congratulate the entire team, coaches, and support staff for their outstanding performance,” expressed Roger Binny, President of the BCCI.
Several players delivered remarkable performances, with India's top-order batters setting the pace and the bowling unit maintaining a firm grip. G. Trisha emerged as the highest run-scorer of the tournament with 309 runs and was honored as both the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, also taking seven wickets. Spinners Vaishnavi Sharma and Aayushi Shukla led the wicket-takers list, claiming 17 and 14 wickets respectively.
India's victories in the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023 and now in 2025 underscore the strength of the BCCI’s age-group and grassroots programs. This robust domestic structure continues to nurture world-class talent, ensuring a vibrant feeder line to the national team.
Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary of the BCCI, remarked, “I extend my best wishes to the India Under-19 Women’s team for their exceptional title defense at the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025. Winning the trophy for the second time in a row demonstrates their dedication, resilience, and dominance on the global stage. The entire team, along with their support staff, displayed outstanding skill, teamwork, and determination. This World Cup victory highlights the strength of India’s grassroots cricket and the promising future of women’s cricket in our nation.”
The Indian team showcased stellar bowling, with spinners claiming nine wickets, including three by Trisha Gongadi. The team's fielding was also commendable, enabling Niki Prasad's squad to restrict South Africa to just 82 runs on a slow pitch. In the chase, Trisha scored 44 not out off 33 balls, while Sanika Chalke contributed an unbeaten 26 off 22, leading India to a swift victory in just 11.2 overs, successfully defending their title for the second time after winning in 2023 in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
This successive triumph in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup highlights the significant gap between India and other nations in the U19 women's category, as they became the first team to clinch the title without a single loss.
“The entire nation is proud of this remarkable achievement by our young and talented team. My heartfelt congratulations to the India Under-19 Women’s team for successfully defending the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup title in Malaysia. Their discipline, determination, and fearless style of cricket have once again brought glory to our nation. Winning back-to-back World Cups is no small feat, and this achievement reflects their dedication and perseverance. Such successes will inspire the next generation of young girls across India to pursue cricket and dream big,” said Rajeev Shukla, Vice-President of the BCCI.
