New Delhi, Aug 18 (NationPress) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expressed profound sorrow on the passing of Dr Vece Paes, an esteemed Olympian and sports medicine expert. Dr Paes, who passed away on Thursday, was part of India’s bronze medal-winning men's hockey team at the 1972 Munich Olympics and represented the nation in the 1971 Hockey World Cup.
At the age of 80, Paes established himself as a leading figure in sports medicine in India after his athletic career, working tirelessly with athletes from various sports for decades. He served the BCCI as an Anti-Doping and Age Verification Consultant from October 2010 to March 2018.
He initiated structured educational programs related to anti-doping within the BCCI, significantly improving awareness and compliance among players and support staff.
