New Delhi, Jan 14 (NationPress) In light of India's unsatisfactory results in Test cricket, which include a 0-3 defeat at home against New Zealand and a 1-3 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, the BCCI has taken decisive actions to rectify the situation. One of the key measures is the restriction placed on players' wives and families from joining them on tours, aimed at enhancing focus and overall performance.
This ruling was established during a review meeting on Saturday in Mumbai, which included BCCI officials, head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and team captain Rohit Sharma.
The board has reinstated a prior regulation that was lifted during the Covid-19 pandemic, which limits family member presence during tours. According to the new guidelines, wives and families will not be permitted to travel with players for the entirety of a tour, as reported by IANS.
For series or tournaments exceeding 45 days, family members are allowed to accompany players for a maximum of 14 days, while for shorter tours, this limit is cut down to just 7 days.
Officials are concerned that the presence of family members, particularly during overseas assignments, can serve as a distraction to players and adversely affect their performance. Furthermore, BCCI has enacted a rule that mandates all players to travel with the team at all times.
