New Delhi, Aug 20 (NationPress) The Bengaluru Bulls, champions of Pro Kabaddi Season 6, are eager to reclaim the PKL title in Season 12 following a disappointing previous season. Head coach BC Ramesh emphasized that while the team is well-rounded, the primary focus this year is to establish one of the top defensive units.
The Bulls have significantly enhanced their defense by securing the services of right corner Yogesh Dahiya during the Season 12 Player Auction for a staggering Rs 1.125 crore, marking him as the priciest Indian defender in PKL auction history.
Additionally, they fortified their defense by signing seasoned left corner Ankush Rathee at his base price of Rs 30 lakh and acquiring right cover Sanjay Dhull and left cover Dheeraj during the player auction, along with other talented defenders including Lucky Kumar (right cover), Deepak S (left corner), Shubham Rahate (left cover), Manish, and Satyappa Matti (right cover).
"We are concentrating on our defense this season. Our goal is to establish one of the finest defensive units. We have recruited India's top defenders for the two corner positions, complemented by two or three strong backup players. The team is very well-balanced, and everyone is contributing.
"The atmosphere is fantastic; the raiders and defenders collaborate seamlessly, fostering a friendly environment without pressure. We comprehend the team’s coordination and combination, and I am assured of our strong performance," coach Ramesh stated during the Media Day organized by JioStar in anticipation of PKL 12.
He further elaborated on the significance of PKL as a platform for promoting kabaddi, stating, "The Pro Kabaddi League serves as a monumental platform for all of us. It has elevated the sport significantly. Kabaddi is now the second most-watched sport in India, providing opportunities for players hailing from villages and farming backgrounds, transforming many into household names.
"Previously, kabaddi players faced challenges in gaining recognition, but now people seek selfies with them. Government entities like Income Tax, Customs, and various state governments are offering jobs, uplifting not just players but entire families. Kabaddi has indeed transformed lives."
