New Delhi, Aug 20 (NationPress) The Bengaluru Bulls, crowned champions of Pro Kabaddi Season 6, are ambitious to reclaim the PKL title in Season 12 after a disappointing last season. Head coach BC Ramesh emphasized that the team is well-rounded, with a primary focus on establishing one of the best defensive units.
To enhance their defense, the Bulls made a significant acquisition at the Season 12 Player Auction, securing right corner Yogesh Dahiya for an astounding Rs 1.125 crore, making him the most expensive Indian defender in PKL auction history.
They further fortified their defense by signing the seasoned left corner Ankush Rathee at his base price of Rs 30 lakh and adding right cover Sanjay Dhull, left cover Dheeraj, along with several other capable defenders like Lucky Kumar (right cover), Deepak S (left corner), Shubham Rahate (left cover), Manish, and Satyappa Matti (right cover).
"Our primary focus this season is our defense. We aim to have one of the most formidable defensive units. We've recruited India's top defenders for the corner positions, supported by two or three robust backup players. The team is well-balanced, with everyone contributing to its success," coach Ramesh noted during the Media Day event organized by JioStar in anticipation of PKL 12.
He further discussed PKL's role in enhancing the visibility of kabaddi, stating, "The Pro Kabaddi League has greatly elevated the sport. Kabaddi is now the second most-viewed sport in India, providing opportunities for players from rural and agricultural backgrounds, transforming them into household names.
"In the past, kabaddi players faced challenges in gaining recognition; however, now they are sought after for photos. Government entities like the Income Tax and Customs are offering job opportunities. The sport is uplifting not just individual players but entire families. Kabaddi has genuinely altered lives.”
