New Delhi, Aug 20 (NationPress) The Bengaluru Bulls, champions of Pro Kabaddi Season 6, are determined to reclaim the PKL title in Season 12 after a disappointing previous season. According to head coach BC Ramesh, the focus this year is on establishing one of the most formidable defensive units in the league.

The Bulls have significantly enhanced their defense by signing right corner Yogesh Dahiya for an astounding Rs 1.125 crore, making him the most expensive Indian defender in PKL auction history.

Additionally, they secured the expertise of experienced left corner Ankush Rathee at his base price of Rs 30 lakh and acquired right cover Sanjay Dhull and left cover Dheeraj, alongside other promising defenders like Lucky Kumar (right cover), Deepak S (left corner), Shubham Rahate (left cover), Manish, and Satyappa Matti (right cover).

“This season, our primary focus is on defense. Our objective is to form one of the best defensive units in the league. We have recruited India's top defenders for the corner positions, supported by two or three strong backup players. The team is very well-balanced, and every member is actively engaged,” Ramesh stated.

He praised the positive atmosphere within the team, noting that both raiders and defenders are collaborating effectively, fostering a friendly environment free of pressure. “We understand the team’s coordination and combination, and I am confident we will deliver exceptional performances,” Ramesh added during the Media Day organized by JioStar ahead of PKL 12.

Ramesh also discussed the impact of the PKL as a platform for promoting kabaddi, asserting, “The Pro Kabaddi League is an influential platform for all of us. It has elevated the sport’s status. Kabaddi ranks as the second most-watched sport in India, providing opportunities for players from rural and agricultural backgrounds, turning many into household names.”

“In the past, kabaddi players faced challenges in gaining recognition, but now fans eagerly seek to capture moments with them. Government entities such as Income Tax, Customs, and various State Governments are offering job opportunities. This sport is not just uplifting players but entire families. Kabaddi has genuinely transformed lives.”

Their strategic player acquisitions signal a serious intent to reclaim their title. This dedication not only reflects the team’s ambition but also highlights the growing popularity and recognition of kabaddi as a sport in India, particularly among rural communities.
