New Delhi, Aug 20 (NationPress) As the champions of Pro Kabaddi Season 6, the Bengaluru Bulls are eager to reclaim the PKL title in Season 12 following a disappointing performance in the previous season. Head coach BC Ramesh stated that while the team is quite balanced, the primary focus this year is on developing one of the most formidable defensive units.
The Bulls enhanced their defensive lineup by acquiring the right corner Yogesh Dahiya for an impressive Rs 1.125 crore during the Season 12 Player Auction, marking him as the most expensive Indian defender in PKL auction history.
Moreover, they further strengthened their defense by signing experienced left corner Ankush Rathee at his base price of Rs 30 lakh, along with right cover Sanjay Dhull, left cover Dheeraj, and other talented defenders including Lucky Kumar (right cover), Deepak S (left corner), Shubham Rahate (left cover), Manish, and Satyappa Matti (right cover).
"This season, our focus has predominantly been on defense. Our objective is to establish one of the best defensive units. We have recruited India's finest defenders for the corner positions, along with two or three strong backup players. The team is exceptionally balanced, and everyone is contributing," Ramesh shared regarding the team's strengths at the Media Day organized by JioStar prior to PKL 12.
He further elaborated on how PKL serves as an important platform for promoting kabaddi, stating, "The Pro Kabaddi League is a significant platform for all of us. It has elevated the sport considerably. Kabaddi is now the second most-watched sport in India, providing opportunities for players from rural and farming backgrounds, turning many into household names.
"In the past, kabaddi players faced challenges in gaining recognition, but today, people are eager to take photos with them. Various government departments such as Income Tax, Customs, and State Governments are now offering jobs. Kabaddi is uplifting not just the players but their entire families. This sport has truly transformed lives.”
