New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) South Africa’s batting all-rounder Anneke Bosch has been excluded from the squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and India, scheduled from April 27 to May 11.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Thursday that Anneke, who has participated in 21 ODIs to date, will miss the tour due to illness. In her stead, CSA has named Lara Goodall, who was initially not part of the tour, as her replacement in the 15-member roster.

Lara, a left-handed middle-order batter, last represented South Africa in an ODI against England last year and was recently left off the central contracts list. She now has the opportunity to enhance her tally of 51 ODI caps for South Africa.

"Batting all-rounder Anneke Bosch has been ruled out of the Proteas Women’s imminent One-Day International Tri-Series against Sri Lanka and India, occurring from April 27 - May 11. Bosch will miss the tour due to illness, and as a precaution, has been substituted by Lara Goodall, a batter from World Sports Betting Western Province, in the 15-player squad," stated Cricket South Africa.

CSA further mentioned that the team, led by Laura Wolvaardt, will depart for Colombo from OR Tambo International Airport on April 22. South Africa will play their opening match against India on April 29 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, which will host all matches of the tri-series in a round-robin format.

Following this, South Africa will confront Sri Lanka on May 2, then face India again on May 7 before taking on the hosts on May 9. The Proteas have selected a young trio of wicketkeeper Karabo Meso and spin-bowling allrounders Seshnie Naidu and Miane Smit for the tri-series in Sri Lanka. This tri-series holds significant importance for South Africa, Sri Lanka, and India, especially as the Women’s ODI World Cup is set to take place later this year in India.

South Africa's updated squad for the ODI tri-series: Laura Wolvaardt (captain), Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Sinalo Jafta (wk), Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Sune Luus, Karabo Meso, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Seshnie Naidu, Nondumiso Shangase, Miane Smit, Chloe Tryon, and Lara Goodall.
