Dubai, Sep 23 (NationPress) South Africa's batter Tazmin Brits has made a remarkable advancement in the latest ICC women’s ODI player rankings, unveiled on Tuesday, just days before the Women’s World Cup kicks off in India.
During a three-match ODI series against Pakistan, South Africa faced off alongside India, who hosted Australia in a highly competitive series as teams gear up for the World Cup. Both South Africa and Australia concluded their series with an identical score of 2-1, with key players, particularly batters, amassing significant points through their stellar performances.
In her match against Pakistan, Brits achieved her career-best score of an unbeaten 171 runs off 141 balls, featuring 20 fours and four sixes. Meanwhile, Mandhana also secured consecutive centuries in the second and third ODIs against Australia.
Mandhana retains her position at the top of the ODI rankings, amassing a career-high total of 818 ranking points, while Brits has impressively ascended 15 places to claim the fifth position. Beth Mooney, who delivered a match-winning century against India in the recently concluded third ODI, climbed two spots to third place.
Pakistan’s Sidra Amin has also made notable strides, moving up 10 positions to rank 13th. Both Marizanne Kapp and Deepti Sharma showcased their all-round abilities, allowing them to rise to ninth (up two spots) and 18th (up six places), respectively.
Kapp is now closing in on the top spot in the Women’s ODI All-Rounder Rankings, advancing one position to second and is just a few rating points away from overtaking Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner.
Other remarkable advancements include Georgia Voll from Australia, who surged 28 spots to rank 61st, and Pakistan's Natalia Pervaiz, who, despite being outside the top 100, rose an impressive 54 spots after scoring a half-century in the second ODI.
