CABI President Clarifies: India Will Host Women’s T20 WC for Blind; Pakistan Is Not Involved

New Delhi, Dec 3 (NationPress) The chairman of the Cricket Association for Blind in India (CABI), Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, vehemently criticized the Pakistani media for generating unwarranted confusion by suggesting that India has been deprived of its rights to host the Women’s T20 World Cup for Blind, which is planned for November next year.
Several reports from Pakistani media have claimed that India's hosting rights were revoked following the nation's decision to 'not travel to Pakistan for the ongoing Men's T20 World Cup for Blind'.
This situation arises amidst ongoing uncertainty regarding the Champions Trophy 2025, where the BCCI has informed the ICC that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan without approval from the central government.
“This is incorrect information. We secured the hosting rights last year. We have only recently discussed the operational aspects in the AGM. Pakistan has no involvement in the Women’s World Cup. If the Indian government permits us to host Pakistan in India, it will occur solely in India. Otherwise, we are examining the possibility of a hybrid model to conduct it in India alongside Nepal or Sri Lanka,” Kivadasannavar conveyed to IANS via phone.
During the 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC), which took place in Multan, Pakistan on Monday, it was confirmed that “India will be the host for the inaugural Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind in November 2025, possibly utilizing a neutral venue or hybrid model.”
“Pakistani media needs to stop disseminating false information. They should refrain from creating confusion, as such actions could lead to India not inviting Pakistan for any tournaments, including the World Cup,” Kivadasannavar further stated.
Previously, India withdrew from the fourth edition of the Men's T20 Blind Cricket World Cup, currently taking place in Pakistan, due to the lack of clearance from the Indian government for the team's travel to Pakistan.
