Cairns, Aug 17 (NationPress) Australia's Test wicketkeeper Alex Carey expressed his satisfaction with his new role as a specialist batter in the ODI team, stating he has no desire to reclaim the gloves from current keeper Josh Inglis.
Carey had been the primary wicketkeeper for Australia in 50-over matches for five years until he was dropped just one match into the 2023 World Cup. Following that, Inglis established himself as the first-choice wicketkeeper.
At 33, Carey found his way back into the playing eleven last September against England when Inglis was sidelined due to a quad injury, and he quickly made his mark with scores of 69 and 61. He also showcased his fielding prowess with a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Phil Salt.
"You can never say never. We're quite clear about our roles at the moment. Both of us are satisfied with how things are. It has worked well over the last six months. I'm thrilled to play for Australia whenever given the chance," Carey told the media on Sunday.
