New Delhi, April 27 (NationPress) The 2024-25 I-League season saga continues as the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has put a hold on the AIFF Appeals Committee's decision, instructing the All India Football Federation (AIFF) not to announce the I-League champion or conduct a medal ceremony until the ongoing arbitration is finalized.

The Churchill Brothers were recognized as the champions of the I-League 2024-25 after being designated as provisional victors by the AIFF Appeals Committee on April 19. Following this, Inter Kashi declared their intention to appeal to CAS.

“Inter Kashi welcomes the Order on its Request for Provisional Measures issued by the Deputy President of the Appeals Arbitration Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport for the case filed by Inter Kashi at CAS under case number CAS 2025/A/11374.

“In this Order, CAS has suspended the ruling from the AIFF Appeals Committee made on April 18 and has ordered the AIFF not to proclaim the I-League 2024/2025 winner or to hold a medal ceremony until the arbitration process is complete.

“Inter Kashi is looking forward to a fair and impartial hearing at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, asserting that the case revolves around a straightforward interpretation of regulations based on undisputed facts,” stated Inter Kashi.

Inter Kashi finished the season with 39 points from 22 matches, just one point behind the provisional leaders, Churchill Brothers FC Goa, who drew with Real Kashmir 1-1 in their final match, hoping to be awarded three points for securing the title.

The controversy emerged during Match 45 of the league, where Namdhari FC triumphed over Inter Kashi 2-0. The AIFF disciplinary committee awarded three points to Kashi after Namdhari was found guilty of fielding an ineligible player in the match.

Point of View
