Harare, Dec 15 (NationPress) The official countdown for the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 has commenced with the unveiling of the tournament trophy in Zimbabwe's capital, Harare, at a ceremony held on Monday. This exciting event will take place from January 15 to February 6 and will feature a total of 16 teams, including newcomers Tanzania, as the future stars of cricket step into the limelight.
Former Zimbabwe captain Tatenda Taibu, who also played in the U19 World Cup, was appointed as the tournament ambassador. He aims to inspire young cricketers through his remarkable journey from youth cricket to becoming one of Zimbabwe’s cricket legends.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, acting Permanent Secretary Cynthia Mawema hailed the tournament as a significant milestone for African cricket, describing it as a global celebration of young talent.
