New Delhi, Jan 3 (NationPress) The esteemed World Champion Meenakshi, along with two-time World Champion Nikhat Zareen and several medallists from the World Boxing Cup, will compete for prestigious awards at the Elite Men and Women National Boxing Championships, taking place at Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida from January 4-10.
This event marks the inaugural occasion where both the Men's and Women's National Championships will occur simultaneously at a single venue, featuring over 300 male and 250 female boxers from across the nation competing in 10 weight categories each.
Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India, stated, "Indian boxing is experiencing remarkable growth, with our athletes excelling at the World Boxing Cup Finals and earning numerous medals in international contests. The upcoming Nationals provide a vital platform for both established boxers and newcomers to demonstrate their talent and vie for selection to the National team ahead of the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games."
Notable competitors include current world champion Jaismine, Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain, and bronze medallists from the world championships such as Pooja Rani and Parveen. Among men, watch for Hitesh, Sachin, silver medallist Abhinash Jamwal, Asian Games bronze medallist Narender Berwal, and silver medallist & Asian Games gold medallist Amit Panghal.
Each member association can nominate up to 10 male and 10 female boxers, with athletes who participated in the World Boxing Cup Finals held in Noida in November 2025 receiving direct entry into the nationals. Only boxers born between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 2006 are eligible.
