Pune, Feb 4 (NationPress) As the third edition of the Women's Premier League 2025 approaches, the Delhi Capitals, who have reached the finals twice, are kicking off their preparations with a rigorous week-long pre-season camp in Pune.

Top players such as Jemimah Rodrigues, Marizanne Kapp from South Africa, the under-utilized Indian opener Shafali Verma, and Radha Yadav have all joined the JSW-GMR co-owned franchise for the camp.

The team is engaging in high-intensity training sessions, closely monitored by Head Coach Jonathan Batty.

The Delhi Capitals were runners-up to Mumbai Indians in the inaugural season in 2023 and faced defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 final.

Their campaign for the 2025 season will kick off on February 15 against Mumbai Indians at the Baroda Cricket Association Stadium in Vadodara, following the tournament opener where the defending champions RCB-W will face Gujarat Giants.

Sources indicate that one of the primary reasons for holding the camp in Pune is the lack of adequate training facilities in Vadodara, which will host the WPL matches for the first time.

The current weather in Pune also closely resembles that of Vadodara, aiding the foreign players of Delhi Capitals in acclimatizing before the tournament begins.

In preparation for WPL 2025, the Delhi Capitals have enhanced their roster with four new signings during the auction in Bengaluru in December 2024. They acquired Scottish wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce and young Indian talents Nandini Kashyap, N. Chiarini, and Niki Prasad, who led India to victory in the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup in Malaysia.

The all-rounder N. Chiarini, signed for Rs 88 lakh, became Delhi Capitals' most expensive acquisition in the auction, making her one of the players to watch in the upcoming IPL alongside Niki Prasad.

The current squad of Delhi Capitals includes: Alice Capsey, Arundhati Reddy, Jemimah Rodrigues, Jess Jonassen, Marizanne Kapp, Meg Lanning (c), Minnu Mani, Radha Yadav, Shafali Verma, Shikha Pandey, Sneha Deepthi, Taniyaa Bhatia, Titas Sadhu, Annabel Sutherland, Nandini Kashyap, N. Chiarini, Sarah Bryce, and Niki Prasad.
