New Delhi, May 10 (NationPress) In an exhilarating finish to the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 in Bihar, Delhi celebrated its inaugural gold medal in shooting, courtesy of 17-year-old Naamya Kapoor who triumphed in the 25m Pistol category at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges on Saturday.
A dedicated Khelo India athlete, she narrowly defeated Anjali Bhagwat from Madhya Pradesh in a thrilling final.
"Winning gold feels amazing, although I believe I could have performed better in the final," Naamya reflected after receiving her gold medal. "This marks my third participation in the Khelo India Games, with my first medal being a bronze in the inaugural edition. I had no idea I’d secured Delhi’s first gold in shooting this time!" she added.
Punjab also enjoyed success, with their skeet shooters shining in both the boys' and girls' finals. Khelo India athlete Harazeez Singh Atwal, who won bronze last year, outperformed his teammate Zorawar Singh Bedi, earning a second consecutive silver medal. Atwal scored 50 points, surpassing Bedi’s 48, to clinch the gold.
In the girls' category, Punjab’s Risham Kaur Guron also shot 50 points, defeating Agrima Kanwar from Himachal Pradesh by three points to secure the gold.
Meanwhile, the boys' 10m Air Rifle final was a nail-biter, featuring two remarkable Khelo India Athletes: Naraen Pranav Vanitha Suresh from Karnataka and Parth Rakesh Mane from Maharashtra. The duel kept spectators on the edge of their seats, with Suresh winning by a slim margin of 1 point, finishing with 252.9 against Mane’s 251.9.
