Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 3 gets underway on Friday, 1 August 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, with Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley calling the tournament's rise over its short history 'tremendous'. The opening fixture pits Central Delhi Kings against Purani Dilli 6 in the men's competition, preceded by a star-studded inauguration ceremony.

Opening Ceremony and Season Launch

Before the first ball is bowled, the stadium will host a live musical evening featuring singers Sunanda Sharma and Sukhbir Singh. The ceremony sets the tone for what organisers are billing as the most competitive edition yet. 'We are delighted to begin another season of the Delhi Premier League. The tournament has grown tremendously over the last editions, and the support from players, franchises and fans has been incredible,' Jaitley said in a statement.

'We are confident this season will be even more exciting, with high-quality cricket, close contests and a wonderful atmosphere at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. We look forward to seeing fans come out in large numbers and enjoy the tournament,' he added.

Captains Set the Tone

Central Delhi Kings will be led by Yash Dhull, who famously captained India to the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup title. Dhull struck a confident note ahead of the opener. 'The team has trained really well over the last few weeks, and everyone is excited for the new season. We have a balanced squad with a good mix of experienced and young players. Our focus is on playing fearless cricket, staying consistent and giving our best in every match,' he said.

Purani Dilli 6 captain Anuj Rawat echoed that competitive spirit. 'The excitement around the Delhi Premier League is growing every year, and we are looking forward to getting our campaign underway. We have prepared well and built a strong squad. Our aim is to play positive cricket, entertain the fans and compete hard in every game,' Rawat said.

Schedule and Format

The men's competition runs from 1 August through 30 August, with 31 August designated as the reserve day for the final. The women's tournament begins on 20 August and concludes on 2 September, with 3 September held as the reserve day for the women's final.
