Chennai, Oct 7 (NationPress) Arjun Deshwal achieved a remarkable milestone by scoring 26 points as Tamil Thalaivas concluded their home leg with an impressive 56-37 victory over Patna Pirates in Season 12 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) at the SDAT Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday.

This was a memorable evening for Deshwal as he not only secured his 71st Super 10 in the league but also climbed to the third position in the all-time list of most Super 10s in PKL history.

Nitesh Kumar also marked his presence by achieving a High Five, while Narender Kandola and Aashish contributed with six and five points, respectively. Their total of 56 points stands as the highest by any team in a match this season. For the Patna Pirates, Ayan Lohchab and Ankit Rana secured their Super 10s, but it wasn't sufficient for their side.

The two main raiders, Arjun Deshwal and Ayan Lohchab, got off to a quick start, opening the scoring for their respective teams. Lohchab initially dominated the Tamil Thalaivas defense, executing a Super Raid that gave the Pirates a slight edge. Ankit Rana also played a crucial role for the Pirates, keeping them ahead momentarily.

Aashish and Himanshu managed to keep the hosts close, but they eventually faced the first All Out of the match due to a tackle by Navdeep, which allowed the Pirates to establish a four-point lead. Despite this setback, the Thalaivas remained competitive, trailing by just two points at 13-11 after the first ten minutes.

However, it didn't take long for the home team to regain control. Nitesh Kumar and Aashish executed a couple of effective tackles to level the score at 14-14, with Kumar later striking back with an All Out for the Thalaivas, giving them a four-point advantage. Deshwal further extended the lead, marking his eighth Super 10 of the season.

While Ankit Rana continued to keep the Pirates in contention with a few raids, the home side's momentum was unshakeable. By halftime, the Tamil Thalaivas had established their dominance with a second All Out, leading by eleven points at 30-19.

Ankit Rana secured his Super 10, helping the Pirates close the gap to nine points as the second half commenced. Nevertheless, Narender Kandola executed a successful Do-Or-Die Raid, complemented by a tackle from Arulnanthababu, ensuring the Thalaivas maintained control. Meanwhile, Ayan Lohchab also added his Super 10, as his team continued to battle.

With the Thalaivas in command, Nitesh Kumar completed his fifth High Five of the season, while Arjun Deshwal kept pushing forward, giving his side a fourteen-point lead with just eight minutes remaining. They executed their third ALL OUT thanks to a tackle by Aashish, solidifying their advantage at 43-26.

Ayan Lohchab fought valiantly to the end, delivering a sensational four-point Super Raid, offering a glimmer of hope for Patna Pirates fans. However, this was not enough to alter the outcome. Deshwal capped off a historic night with 26 points, achieving the best performance by a raider in a game this season, as Tamil Thalaivas sealed a monumental 19-point victory.
