New Delhi, March 4 (NationPress) As India and Australia gear up for another crucial ICC knockout encounter, former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik asserts that the Men in Blue have emerged as the premier team in the Champions Trophy 2025 thus far.

In anticipation of the highly awaited semi-final on Tuesday, Karthik expressed that India has exhibited consistent and robust cricket throughout the tournament, and should face no challenges in progressing—provided they sustain their present performance.

"The caliber of India's cricket has likely been the best in the tournament. They have maintained solid form, and if they can continue this trend, I see no reason why they can't clinch victory," Karthik mentioned during his interview with Sky Sports.

Nevertheless, despite India's impressive showing, Karthik pointed out a significant threat that could thwart their ambitions—Travis Head. The Australian left-handed batsman has historically posed problems for India in major finals, earning the moniker "Travis Headache" from former Indian coach Ravi Shastri.

Moreover, Head played a pivotal role in Australia's triumph over India in the World Test Championship final last year, delivering an outstanding performance with a score of 163 at The Oval.

"Ravi Shastri has aptly dubbed him Travis 'Headache' because he has consistently troubled India in significant matches. His playing tempo and scoring rate have been disruptive and have alleviated pressure on other Australian batsmen," Karthik added.

Australia, the defending ODI World Cup champions, enter the semi-final with several key players absent, including Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis.

Despite their reduced lineup, former England captain Nasser Hussain believes that the Australians possess an innate resilience when it comes to high-pressure cricket.

"Australia won’t shy away from the challenge. Although they are missing players, their track record in ICC events is remarkable. Each member of that dressing room has grown up idolizing teams led by Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting, and Pat Cummins, and understands they are destined for success in these tournaments. They are not here just to participate; they genuinely believe they can conquer a very formidable Indian squad," Hussain remarked.
