The event, scheduled from February 10-13, will showcase 500 athletes from 56 different nations, all striving to meet the minimum qualification standards for forthcoming major events later this year.

India's contingent includes its finest Paralympic athletes, represented by a robust 50-member team. Featured athletes include the reigning Paris 2024 champions in javelin throw, Sumit Antil (F64) and Navdeep (F41), along with two-time Paris 2024 medallist Preeti Pal and Simran, who earned a bronze medal in the women’s 200m T12.

Among the elite athletes is Belgium’s Maxime Carabin, a two-time Paralympic champion for Paris 2024 and a five-time world champion, including three golds at the Kobe 2024 World Championships.

Watch out for Canada’s Austin Smeenk, who clinched gold in the men’s 800m T34 and a bronze in the 100m T34 at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

The host nation, UAE, will field a team of 65 athletes, featuring several Paralympic medallists. “My training has been solid for this new season. I am targeting a powerful showing at this home event and throughout the upcoming season, with the Asian Para Games as my main goal,” stated Othman ahead of the competition.

According to Thani Juma Berregad, chairman of the Organising Committee, “Since its inception in 2009, the Fazza Para Athletics Championships have consistently raised the bar. Following the successful hosting of the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, this year's event carries an additional weight of responsibility for the organisers to excel at every level.”
