Dubai, May 6 (NationPress) As the 6th Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International begins at the Shabab Al Ahli Club on Tuesday, India has assembled the largest team, even though the nation's stars from Paris 2024 are not participating in this event. Krishna Nagar, the champion from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics (men’s SH6), along with Asian Para Games medallist Sukant Kadam (men’s SL4), Mandeep Kaur (women’s SL3), and many others, are part of the 150 Para players representing 30 countries.

Leading the illustrious lineup is Cheah Liek Hou (SU5) from Malaysia, a champion from the Paris 2024 Games, who will be joined by his men's doubles partner Muhammad Fareez Anuar. Together, they won the gold medal at the Pattaya 2024 World Championships in the men’s doubles SL3-SU5 category.

The South Korean contingent will feature experienced wheelchair players, including Choi Jungman (men’s WH1), a silver medallist from Paris 2024, and Kim Jungjun (men’s WH2), a bronze medallist. They aim to secure medals with China’s absence in the competition.

From Hong Kong, Chu Man Kai, the gold medallist from the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games, hopes to return home with more accolades, supported by his partner, Wong Chun Yim, who has also medalled at the Asian Para Games.

The local Emirati challenge will be led by Jamal Khalifa Al Bedwawi, who recently earned UAE’s first international medal in Para Badminton, with a bronze in the men’s singles WH1 event at the Czech Para Badminton International 2025 last month. The 26-year-old will be joined by fellow Dubai Club training partners Siham Alrasheedy (women’s singles WH2) and debutant Omair Mohammed (men’s singles WH1) for the mixed doubles and men’s doubles events. Additionally, the UAE will have Sinan Asif competing in three events within the men’s SU5 category.
