Dubai, April 11 (NationPress) The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) announced on Friday that the fifth Asian Youth Para Games will be held in Dubai, UAE from December 7–14, 2025. This decision comes after the original host city, Tashkent, withdrew a few months ago.

This marks the second occasion that Dubai will play host to this prestigious event, having previously welcomed it in 2017.

The announcement follows four months after the APC revealed that Tashkent could not proceed with the games, which were initially set for October.

APC President Majid Rashed stated, “The Asian Youth Para Games are essential for advancing the Paralympic Movement in Asia. They provide young athletes with the opportunity to obtain their international classification and challenge themselves in a renowned multi-sport environment.”

“We sincerely appreciate the support from His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Dubai Sports Council, and the Dubai Club for People of Determination in ensuring that the fifth edition of the games will proceed. With their prior experience from hosting the event in 2017 and Dubai's established reputation for para-sports, we are optimistic about the success of the games,” he further added.

The Local Organising Committee has set four key objectives for the event: to promote inclusivity and provide a platform for young athletes with disabilities; to inspire youth with disabilities through sport participation; to enhance regional unity by strengthening bonds among Asian countries; and to showcase Dubai's world-class infrastructure and commitment to inclusivity.

According to the APC announcement, approximately 30-40 nations are expected to send around 1350 athletes to Dubai to compete across 10 sports. This will mark the largest Asian Youth Para Games in terms of participant numbers and countries represented.

The events will include Para Athletics, Para Swimming, Para Power-lifting, Para Taekwondo, Para Archery, Para Table Tennis, Para Badminton, Wheelchair Basketball, Boccia, and Goalball.

The Dubai Club for People of Determination will serve as the venue for six of the ten sports featured.

Dubai has established itself as a prominent location for para-sports, hosting events such as the FAZZA International Para-Athletics Championships and the FAZZA Para-Archery Championships.
