Brighton, May 16 (NationPress) The head coach of Brighton & Hove Albion announced that defender Lewis Dunk has rejoined the matchday squad for the upcoming game against Liverpool on Tuesday (IST).
The team captain was sidelined during Brighton's 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium last weekend due to a slight hamstring issue, but he will be ready for the crucial match at the Amex Stadium.
In a media briefing, Hurzeler provided updates on the entire roster, confirming that Giorgio Rutter is nearing a full recovery.
"Lewis [Dunk] is back in the squad. Joel [Veltman] will also return. This is very encouraging news. Kaoru had some minor setbacks, but we're hopeful he'll be an option for us. Overall, things are looking up, and we have more choices available.
"Igor is definitely part of the squad. James [Milner] is in rehab on the field and is progressing well. I’m uncertain if we will see him this season, but he’s making good strides. Georginio Rutter is also very close, and there’s a slight chance he could be an option for the last game of the season,” Hurzeler stated during the pre-game press conference.
The German coach was also questioned about what contributed to Liverpool's championship success this season. Hurzeler pointed to consistency as the key factor—not only in performance but also in the availability of their star players, who have made a significant impact as the season nears its conclusion.
"I cherish the term consistency. It signifies not only performance and results but also how many matches players like Salah and Van Dijk can participate in, as well as Mac Allister and Gravenberch.
"They have managed to forge a strong connection on the field, establishing a solid foundation, which is critical in the Premier League. The teams with the highest player availability tend to achieve greater success, and that's what I believe made the difference," he added.
