Excitement Mounts as India Prepares for the Inaugural Kho-Kho World Cup with a Rigorous Training Camp

Mumbai, Dec 6 (NationPress) With India preparing to host the inaugural Kho-Kho World Cup, the team will commence their preparations with a rigorous training camp at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi from December 10 to January 11. This landmark Kho-Kho World Cup is scheduled to occur in New Delhi from January 13 to 19, 2025.
The camp, organized by the Kho-Kho Federation of India (KKFI) in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS), will host 60 male and 60 female players showcasing their skills. They will be supported by six coaches, additional support staff, and six physiotherapists.
Players from all over India will arrive in the national capital on December 9, and the final squads for the World Cup will be determined based on their performance during this intense training phase.
The KKFI emphasizes that “the key to transformation from excellence to the podium lies in taking care of every aspect of players' development”.
To ensure top-tier preparation, the federation is committed to providing world-class facilities, high-intensity training sessions, and recovery programs, while also creating meticulously planned diets tailored to each player's specific needs, alongside psychological evaluations under the guidance of the country’s finest coaches, as stated in a release on Friday.
The training program will incorporate advanced sports science technologies such as the InBody 770 Body Composition Analyzer to enhance player performance and health.
This technology offers athletes precise data on body composition, segmental muscle mass, visceral fat, and hydration levels. Such information will enable coaches to customize training programs and dietary plans for every athlete. Additionally, Whole Body Phase Angle analysis will be utilized for monitoring cellular health and recovery, ensuring players maintain peak fitness.
The camp will also implement Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) techniques for in-depth muscle balance assessments, along with posture and flexibility analysis to mitigate injury risks. These scientific methods will be enhanced by real-time 3D body scanning technology to measure segmental circumferences, ensuring balanced muscle development and posture correction.
A standout feature of the camp is the use of whole-body EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) Training, an innovative technique that activates more muscle fibers than traditional training approaches. This technology facilitates effective muscle toning, fat loss, and rehabilitation, enabling athletes to achieve swift improvements without placing strain on their joints. EMS sessions will also assist in recovery by alleviating muscle pain and stiffness.
Sudhanshu Mittal, KKFI President, conveyed his enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to bring the Kho-Kho World Cup to Indian soil. This training camp is a golden opportunity for players to showcase their talent and be part of a truly historic moment. With a focus on talent, our dedicated coaches will help shape the squad for this global event.”
“This training camp, supported by SAI and MYAS, is central to our World Cup preparations. With 120 players training under expert guidance and state-of-the-art facilities, we are confident in assembling a formidable team. We are deeply appreciative of Shri Sudhanshu Mittal for his unwavering support in bringing this vision to life,” said M.S. Tyagi, General Secretary of KKFI, in a release on Friday.
As the countdown kicks off with this camp, anticipation grows for this grand celebration of a sport that is deeply woven into India’s cultural heritage.
