India Kicks Off Month-Long Training and Selection Camp for Kho Kho World Cup

New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) India will initiate its training camp at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in the national capital on December 10 to enhance their preparations for the upcoming Kho Kho World Cup 2025.

This training camp signifies the commencement of the Indian team's final preparations for the Kho Kho World Cup, scheduled from January 13 to 19, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

The month-long critical fitness and conditioning training camp will be supervised by head coach Ashwani Sharma. Initial medical assessments will be conducted over the first two days to evaluate the physical condition and readiness of the players for the camp.

Approximately 60 skilled players, both seasoned and emerging talents, from each men's and women's team across India will participate in this training camp, focusing on techniques that enhance lightning-fast reflexes, precise movement, and seamless coordination.

This camp will provide players with the opportunity to work cohesively as a team and understand the requirements to excel at the elite level. National camps are essential for bringing all players together to train as a unified group.

The final squads for the Kho Kho World Cup will be determined based on their performance during this training camp. Around 16 coaches and support staff will be available to assist the players in their preparation for this pivotal event, as stated by Sudhanshu Mittal, president of the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI).

The training camp will emphasize enhancing fitness levels, with specialized training in coordination, game practice, techniques, and skills such as pole diving, tapping, and running maneuvers like dodging and zigzag running.

The KKFI has also appointed a sports psychologist to provide mental health resources to the players. The psychologist will assist players in overcoming challenges, managing stress, and addressing mental fatigue.

Experts in various fields, including yoga, meditation, dietetics, and physiology, will focus on fostering team spirit, collaboration, and understanding among players to maximize performance and mental resilience, as noted by the KKFI chief.

Mittal also mentioned that special provisions have been made for the players' nutrition, offering food supplements, dry fruits, juices, and meals during the training camp.

The players will have their boarding and lodging arrangements at the Jawahar Lal Nehru SAI hostel, located within 100 meters of the training venue. All players will receive complimentary lodging and meals, along with a sports kit valued at Rs 20,000.
