Mackay, Aug 10 (NationPress) Following a decisive 3-0 T20 series victory, Australia A captain Nicole Faltum expressed confidence in her team's ability to defend their total against India A, attributing this to their trust in the bowlers and their collective on-field experience.

During the match at the Great Barrier Reef Arena on Sunday, all-rounder Sianna Ginger showcased her skills with impressive bowling figures of 4-16, leading Australia A to a narrow four-run triumph. Although India A's bowling attack effectively restricted the home team to 144/8, Sianna turned the tide by dismissing the formidable Shafali Verma in the eighth over and subsequently stumping Raghvi Bist in the 15th over.

“We felt like we had it somewhat under control. Clearly, it’s a good batting wicket, and the outfield is quite fast, making it challenging to defend at times,” Nicole remarked.

“However, with the bowlers we had and the experience on the field, we were quite confident in our ability to defend the total. We had four pace bowlers available at the end and aimed to conclude the game as swiftly as possible,” she added, as reported by cricket.com.au after the match.

Sianna also claimed the wickets of Radha and Sajana Sajeevan in the 19th over, yielding just three runs and leaving India A 15 runs short of victory with their tailenders at the crease. Tess Flintoff effectively defended the last over, securing a tight win for Australia A and limiting India A to 140/8.

“We believed that Ginge was our standout bowler for the day, so we had her bowl that crucial 19th over to regain momentum and set a challenging target for the final over, then we relied on Tess Flintoff’s experience, who did a fantastic job in the final moments,” Nicole explained.

Both teams are set to head to Brisbane in preparation for the first one-day match at the Northern Suburbs Cricket Club on Wednesday.
