Following West Indies' Loss to Bangladesh, Seales and Sinclair Penalized for ICC Code Violations

New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) Following the West Indies' defeat in the second Test against Bangladesh by 101 runs in Jamaica, which leveled the series at 1-1, bowlers Jayden Seales and Kevin Sinclair have been penalized for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct.
Seales was fined 25 percent of his match fee after being found in violation of Article 2.20 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which addresses conduct contrary to the spirit of the game. Furthermore, he received one demerit point added to his disciplinary record, marking it as his first offense within a 24-month timeframe.
The incident transpired during the first over of Bangladesh's second innings when Seales directed an inappropriate and excessively aggressive gesture towards the opposing dressing room after claiming a wicket.
Similarly, Sinclair was fined 15 percent of his match fee after being found guilty of breaching Article 2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to disobeying an umpire's instructions during an international match.
In addition to his fine, Sinclair also received one demerit point, marking his first violation in a 24-month period. The ICC stated that Sinclair disregarded the on-field umpires' directives to cease using language deemed aggressive towards the Bangladesh batters.
Both players acknowledged their respective violations and accepted the sanctions proposed by Match Referee Jeff Crowe, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. The on-field umpires, Asif Yaqoob and Kumar Dharmasena, along with third umpire Nitin Menon and fourth umpire Zahid Bassarath, were responsible for the charges.
Level 1 breaches incur a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player's match fee, and can result in one or two demerit points. The West Indies and Bangladesh are set to shift their focus to a three-match ODI series from December 8-12 at Warner Park Sporting Complex in Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis, followed by three T20Is at Arnos Vale Stadium in Arnos Vale, St Vincent from December 15-19.
