From Near Quitting to World Cup Aspirations: MP’s Sachin Bhargo Aims to Represent India

New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) The Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) is gearing up to host the first-ever World Cup in India. Athletes are preparing for this significant international event, and Sachin Bhargo, who has triumphed over various obstacles to carve out a niche in Kho Kho, is eagerly anticipating the multi-nation tournament.

Coming from a farming background, Sachin faced numerous challenges during the initial stages of his sporting journey. However, with the guidance of his coach, he persevered through these hardships. He recounted a moment when he nearly decided to abandon Kho Kho but received crucial support from his coach, who invited him to stay at his home.

Sachin shared, “As a child, we lived in Dewas (the city), but following my grandparents' passing, there was no one to manage the farm. Consequently, my family relocated to the village. At that time, I faced significant challenges regarding my living situation. My parents wanted me to join them in the village, but I insisted on continuing my Kho Kho journey. I was distraught and reached out to my coach (Praveenji Sante) for advice on how to proceed. He told me, ‘Pack your bags and come to my house,’ and I lived with him for a year.”

In the inaugural season of the Ultimate Kho Kho League, Sachin was signed by Sumit Bhatia, the head coach of Telugu Yoddhas, which led to his international debut for India at the 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming Kho Kho World Cup, Sachin stated, “I am incredibly excited about the Kho Kho World Cup and hope to be selected to play. My family, coaches, and fans will be thrilled if I participate in the World Cup. This tournament will significantly benefit the sport of Kho Kho. There have been many questions raised about the game, and some people are even unfamiliar with it. Now, they will discover how amazing Kho Kho truly is. Just as everyone knows about cricket, football, and hockey, I want every individual to recognize Kho Kho.”

Sachin also highlighted the significance of a consistent workout routine and noted that the introduction of sports sciences by KKFI is reducing the risk of muscle injuries in athletes.

“This approach is incredibly beneficial. Many athletes engage in strength training daily, but it shouldn’t be done every day as muscles require adequate rest to prevent injuries. Overtraining can hinder a player’s performance. Thus, it’s essential to understand one’s body and strength,” he concluded.

The first Kho Kho World Cup is scheduled to be held from January 13-19 in New Delhi, India, featuring 24 countries competing in the tournament.
