Mumbai, March 12 (NationPress) After delivering an impressive performance during the league phase, the Gujarat Giants are determined to secure their first-ever Women’s Premier League (WPL) final as they face the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator at the Brabourne Stadium of the Cricket Club of India this Thursday.

Prior to the match, Gujarat Giants' head coach Michael Klinger is optimistic about his team's chances. “Our objective at the beginning of the season was to reach the final, and we can confidently say we’ve achieved that. Now that we're here, our aim is to win it all, and we believe we can. When we perform at our best, we can overcome most teams in the league,” he stated.

Discussing his team’s aggressive strategy this season, Klinger mentioned, “We have emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline longer than our opponents and staying competitive. This has been evident in our victories and even in a few matches where we narrowly missed out.”

Despite a tough start with only one win from their initial four games, the Gujarat Giants made a remarkable comeback, notching up three consecutive victories to clinch a playoff spot in the WPL for the very first time.

Reflecting on the season, the ex-Australian player acknowledged his squad's efforts. “The contributions from our local players have been pivotal in our success this year. Harleen has excelled in both middle and top-order batting. Kashvi, Priya, and Bharti have also made significant impacts. The blend of local and international players stepping up has brought us to this point,” he remarked.

Klinger provided insights into his strategies against the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. “It's clear they heavily depend on their top four or five batters. If we can disrupt their top order and apply pressure to the middle order coming in earlier, it will be crucial,” he explained.

“We will analyze their potential tactics and ensure we are well-prepared for tomorrow,” he concluded.
