Haris Rauf and Danni Wyatt-Hodge Honored as ICC Players of the Month

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) Haris Rauf, the men’s fast-bowler from Pakistan, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, opening batswoman for England, have been recognized as the ICC Players of the Month for November 2024.

Rauf triumphed over prominent fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Marco Jansen to secure this accolade, marking a consecutive victory for Pakistan following Noman Ali's award in October.

Displaying his exceptional talent, Rauf excelled in six ODIs and three T20Is for Pakistan. He kicked off his Australian tour with a remarkable three-wicket haul in Melbourne, culminating in a vital five-wicket performance that leveled the series.

During the decisive match in Perth, Rauf claimed two additional wickets, concluding the series as the top wicket-taker with ten dismissals at an impressive economy rate of five, leading Pakistan to a 2-1 series victory.

Continuing his stellar form, Rauf accumulated five wickets in the subsequent T20I series, including an outstanding four-wicket haul in the second match, and added three more wickets during the ODI series in Zimbabwe, totaling 18 wickets across all formats in November.

“Being named the ICC Player of the Month is an extraordinary honor, and I am deeply grateful for this recognition. This achievement reflects the collective efforts of my teammates and the unwavering support from our dedicated fans,” Rauf expressed.

“Wearing the Pakistan jersey is a true privilege, and moments like this inspire me to work harder and push my boundaries. I dedicate this award to everyone who has been part of my journey and I eagerly anticipate contributing further to the success of Pakistan cricket,” he added.

On the women’s side, Danni Wyatt-Hodge triumphed over nominees Sharmin Akhter and Nadine de Klerk. The right-handed opener had a standout month during England's 3-0 T20I series victory in their multi-format tour of South Africa.

After a slow start in East London, Danni exploded with a stunning 78 off just 45 balls, significantly contributing to England's 36-run victory in Benoni. She concluded the series with another impressive half-century, leading England to a nine-wicket win at Centurion.

“I am thrilled and honored to receive this award. I owe a huge thank you to my teammates and coaches who support and motivate me every day. Our T20I series against South Africa was fantastic, showcasing extraordinary performances from the entire team,” Danni remarked.

“Personally, it has been rewarding to maintain consistent performance, and both individually and as a team, we aim to continue this momentum as we prepare for the Ashes and another significant year of cricket ahead,” she concluded.
