In a thrilling final at the bustling DY Patil Stadium on Sunday, India scored an impressive 298/7, bolstered by Shafali Verma's 87 runs and Deepti Sharma's rapid 58. Despite a determined effort from captain Laura Wolvaardt, who scored 101, South Africa was dismissed for 246, with Deepti claiming five wickets.

This groundbreaking win marks a potential turning point for women’s cricket in India, igniting celebrations nationwide. “What an incredible moment it was at the D.Y. Patil Stadium yesterday when Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Indian women's team, secured the catch that clinched the ICC Women's World Cup for India.
