Bengaluru, April 2 (NationPress) Hockey India has unveiled a 40-member core group for the ongoing senior women's national coaching camp at SAI.

The camp, which commenced on March 23, initially included 65 potential players. Based on their performances over the last two weeks, the group has now been narrowed down to 40.

Of the existing core group, 28 players have kept their positions, while 12 new faces have been incorporated from outside the core group, acknowledging their impressive displays during the 15th Senior Women’s National Championship and their contributions in the initial national training camp, Hockey India stated in a release.

Discussing the selection, chief coach Harendra Singh remarked, “We have had some truly outstanding sessions and evaluations. The selectors and the team have successfully shortlisted the finest 40 players available. After observing the National Championships, we believe we've discovered some remarkable talent, and I am confident they will serve the country well in the long run. I am eager to see how these young athletes will perform in the camp and take significant steps towards their future.”

The goalkeeping department retains four familiar names: Savita, Bichu Devi Kharibam, Bansari Solanki, and Madhuri Kindo. They are joined by Samiksha Saxena from Assam Hockey, who has been recognized for her outstanding performances in the national championships.

In defense, eight players from the existing core group—Mahima Chaudhary, Nikki Pradhan, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Udita, Ishika Chaudhary, Jyoti Chhatri, Jyoti, and Akshata Abaso Dhekale—have been retained. Meanwhile, Anjna Dungdung from Hockey Bengal and Suman Devi Thoudam from Manipur Hockey have been added to the squad.

The midfield continues to feature seasoned players such as Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Neha, Salima Tete, Manisha Chauhan, Ajmina Kujur, Sunelita Toppo, Lalremsiami, Sharmila Devi, and Baljeet Kaur. Additionally, four new players—Sujata Kujur from Hockey Bengal, Mahima Tete, Albela Rani Toppo from Hockey Jharkhand, and Pooja Yadav from UP Hockey—have earned their places in the camp following outstanding performances.

Among the forwards, the team keeps Deepika Soreng, Navneet Kaur, Sangita Kumari, Deepika, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, Beauty Dungdung, and Mumtaz Khan, all of whom have consistently delivered impressive performances.

They will be joined by five emerging attacking talents—Dipimonika Toppo from Odisha, Hritika Singh from Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Annu and Chandana Jagadish from Hockey Karnataka, and Kajal Sadashiv Atpadkar from Hockey Maharashtra.
