ICC Suspends Javon Searles and Officials for Anti-Corruption Violations

New Delhi, March 12 (NationPress) The International Cricket Council (ICC) has implemented severe measures against West Indies fast-bowling all-rounder Javon Searles, Titans team owner Chitranjan Rathod, and team official Griffith due to violations of the anti-corruption regulations set forth by Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the ICC.
The ICC's statement indicated that all three individuals are facing allegations related to the Bim10 Tournament 2023/24, which falls under the CWI Anti-Corruption Code's jurisdiction. Furthermore, Griffith is implicated in one charge concerning International Matches governed by the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
Consequently, the trio has been provisionally suspended from all cricket activities with immediate effect. They have a window of 14 days, commencing from March 11, 2026, to respond to these charges.
Rathod is facing three allegations under the CWI Code, while Searles is charged with four offenses under the same code. Griffith is looking at four charges under the CWI Code and one under the ICC Code.
All three individuals have been charged with these three violations:
Breach of Article 2.1.1 of the CWI Code – This involves fixing, attempting to fix, or unduly influencing the outcome, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of matches in the Bim10 tournament 2023/24.
Breach of Article 2.1.4 of the CWI Code – This pertains to soliciting or encouraging Players and/or Player Support Personnel to commit offenses under the CWI Code.
Breach of Article 2.4.4 of the CWI Code – This relates to failing or refusing to cooperate with a legitimate investigation conducted by the Designated Anti-Corruption Official regarding potential violations of the CWI Code.
Additionally, Searles and Griffith have been charged with Breach of Article 2.4.2 of the CWI Code, which involves failing to inform Cricket West Indies of any approaches or invitations that could breach the CWI Code.
Griffith is also charged with Breach of Article 2.4.7 of the ICC Code, which involves obstructing the ACU's investigation into possible corrupt conduct by concealing or manipulating information relevant to the inquiry.
Searles has previously represented the West Indies Under-19 team and played for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL from 2014 to 2019. He also participated in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2018.
