New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) USA cricketer Aaron Jones has been accused of five violations of the anti-corruption regulations established by Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC), as disclosed by the global cricket authority on Wednesday.

The allegations pertain to purported incidents within the Bim10 league in Barbados during the 2023/24 season, as well as in international fixtures. Consequently, Jones has been provisionally suspended from all cricketing activities effective immediately and has a period of 14 days from January 28, 2026, to address the accusations.

“Violation of Article 2.1.1 of the CWI Code – Engaging in fixing, attempting to fix, or improperly influencing the outcome, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of matches in the Bim10 tournament for 2023/24 (or attempting such actions).

“Violation of Article 2.4.2 of the CWI Code – Not disclosing to Cricket West Indies any approaches or invitations to participate in actions that would breach the CWI regulations.

“Violation of Article 2.4.4 of the CWI Code – Failing or refusing to assist with a reasonable investigation led by the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (or their designee) concerning potential infractions of the CWI regulations,” stated the ICC.

Jones, who has represented the USA in 52 One Day Internationals and 48 Twenty20 Internationals, is presently with the national team in Sri Lanka for their Men's T20 World Cup training camp, ahead of the tournament commencing on February 7.

“Violation of Article 2.4.4 of the ICC Code – Not providing the ICC ACU with complete details of any approaches or invitations received to engage in corrupt conduct under the ICC regulations.

“Violation of Article 2.4.7 of the ICC Code – Hindering the ACU’s investigation into possible corrupt conduct by concealing or altering information that may have been pertinent to the inquiry or could have served as evidence of corrupt actions,” the ICC added.

Importantly, similar allegations may soon be extended to other individuals. “These charges form part of a broader investigation that is likely to lead to additional charges against other participants in the near future. The ICC will refrain from further comments on this matter until the disciplinary proceedings yield results,” concluded the ICC.
