India Faces Sri Lanka in Exciting 5-Match ODI Deaf Cricket Series

New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) Under the leadership of captain Virendra Singh, India will engage with Sri Lanka in a five-match bilateral One-day International (ODI) Deaf Cricket Series, which commenced at the DDA Roshanara Club on Monday and is set to wrap up on December 8.

This eagerly awaited series has seen the national men's selection committee finalize a squad of 15 players from various regions across the country. The Indian Deaf Cricket Team, captained by Virendra Singh, is geared up to take on Sri Lanka in thrilling matches, with the goal of securing the champion's trophy.

During the opening ceremony, chief guest Raja Banthia, IPS – DCP North Delhi, conveyed his best wishes to all participants. He praised the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) for its pivotal role in fostering deaf cricket both in India and on the international stage.

Sumit Jain, President of IDCA, expressed: “Bilateral series offer a fantastic opportunity for teams to enhance their skills and recognize areas that require improvement. These matches not only act as crucial learning experiences but also aid players in building confidence and preparing for bigger platforms ahead. I am optimistic that this tournament will be exceptional and wish both teams the best of luck.”

The Indian team, under the skilled direction of head coach Dev Dutt and assistant coach Susheel Gupta, underwent rigorous training in Delhi from November 25 to December 1. The Sri Lankan team arrived in New Delhi for the tournament on December 1.
