Indian Deaf Cricket Team Achieves Impressive 5-0 Victory Over Sri Lanka

New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) The Indian deaf cricket team has accomplished a notable 5-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka during the bilateral ODI Deaf Cricket Series that took place from December 2 to 8. This exciting series unfolded at the DDA Roshanara Club, with the final match resulting in a nail-biting 13-run victory for India.
India managed to set a challenging total of 289 all out in 49.5 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka fell short, getting all out for 276 in 48.4 overs, thereby granting India a hard-fought triumph and ensuring a clean sweep in the series. This victory marked a remarkable week for the Indian team, which had engaged in rigorous preparation prior to the series.
Under the leadership of captain Virendra Singh, the Indian team showcased an impressive performance, with Santosh Kumar Mahopatra emerging as the series' top batter. Mahopatra scored a total of 325 runs at an average of 65, which included one century and two half-centuries. On the bowling side, the Indian squad exhibited discipline and teamwork, consistently securing victories throughout the series.
Despite Sri Lanka’s Gimadu Malkam leading his team commendably, the standout performer for the visitors was Alanrose Kalep, who was honored as the Man of the Series. Kalep took 12 wickets across four innings, making him the top wicket-taker of the series. Additionally, Sai Akash from India received the Man of the Match award for his significant contribution in the final game.
The bilateral series was organized by the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA), a member of the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC), which collaborates closely with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to promote cricket among hearing-impaired athletes globally.
Players from both teams took advantage of this unique opportunity to display their skills, proving their mettle in each match of the series. The Indian squad, guided by captain Virendra Singh, included 15 talented players from various parts of the nation.
