New Delhi, July 30 (NationPress) The senior men’s national football team of India is gearing up for the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers Final Round by competing in the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Nations Cup 2025. This tournament is set to take place from August 31 to September 8.
India received an invitation to join the tournament after Malaysia pulled out due to logistical difficulties and player unavailability. The event, which is not part of the official FIFA calendar, will take place in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, and India has been placed in Group B. Matches will be held in Dushanbe, where India will face the hosts, Tajikistan, on August 29, Iran on September 1, and Afghanistan on September 4.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoff stage, culminating in two matches on September 8. The third-place match will see the two group runners-up battle in Dushanbe, while the two group winners will compete for the title in Tashkent.
Group A will be contested in Uzbekistan, which includes Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, and Oman.
