New Delhi, Feb 12 (NationPress) Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav commended his team's overall performance following their impressive 93-run triumph against Namibia in a Group A match of the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday.

India scored 209/9 in their allotted 20 overs, with Ishan Kishan smashing 61 runs and Hardik Pandya adding 52. Varun Chakravarthy, the wrist spinner, shattered Namibia's middle order with remarkable figures of 3-7, as the reigning champions bowled out their opponents for 116 in just 18.2 overs.

“Batting was challenging, but Ishan and Sanju's opening was impressive; it didn’t seem difficult at all. After losing a few quick wickets, the partnership between Shivam and Hardik was commendable,” Yadav expressed during the post-match presentation.

He acknowledged Namibia’s bowlers, despite their heavy loss. “The ball was a bit unpredictable, but I commend the Namibian bowlers. They executed their plans well and performed admirably,” he added.

“Initially, it seemed we could score over 240 or 250. However, cricket is unpredictable. While we lost a few quick wickets, we recovered well and finished strong,” he noted.

Yadav welcomed the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who bowled his full quota. “It's great to have him back. He’s ready for the next match. The partnership between Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel poses a challenge for any batting lineup,” he stated.

On Hardik Pandya's versatility, Yadav remarked, “He’s effective with both new and old balls, and his performance in crucial situations is invaluable. His positive mindset is a major asset for our team.”

Pandya, named Player of the Match for his all-around contributions, shared his excitement about finding his rhythm after extensive preparation. “I’m enjoying the game and have spent months getting my body in shape. Everything is going smoothly,” he mentioned.

He expressed pride in his identity as an all-rounder. “I take my batting seriously. When I get a chance, I ensure both my batting and bowling skills are honed. Batting is my passion, and excelling adds sweetness to my achievements,” he stated.

Discussing his fitness regimen, Pandya said, “My body feels great. Hard work is essential, and I embrace it. Playing for my country is my top priority, which demands extra effort. I spend time in intensive training camps to maintain my fitness.”

“Before major tournaments, I dedicate time to routines that ensure I eat well, sleep properly, and maintain good habits, which helps my performance,” he added.

Pandya lauded the team's bowling diversity. “That's our strength. We have excellent fast and spin bowling options. Each bowler knows their role, and they perform exceptionally well,” he noted.

He concluded by commenting on the pitch conditions in the World Cup so far. “The wickets have been somewhat challenging. Adapting is crucial. Today, it felt like the wicket was holding up and keeping low, but we need to adjust and let our skills shine,” he said.
