New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) The Indian duo of Rudrankksh Patil and Arya Rajesh Borse clinched a silver medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team event, falling short against the formidable Chinese pairing of Wang Zifei and Song Buhan, with a score of 9-17 during the gold medal match on the penultimate day of the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun Argentina 2025.
With a total of four gold medals, two silver, and one bronze, India currently ranks second in the medal tally, trailing behind China, who has secured additional bronze medals in this prestigious International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) event.
In the competitive 16-team format of the 10m air rifle mixed team event, both Indian teams reached the medal rounds, with Rudrankksh, fresh off an individual air rifle gold, and Arya accumulating a score of 630.5 to finish as runners-up. The Chinese team led the qualifications, while the second Indian pair, Arjun Babuta and R. Narmada Nithin, also advanced to the bronze match with a score of 629.6, ultimately finishing fourth behind local favorites Marcelo Gutierrez and Fernanda Russo.
Gutierrez, who had previously secured a widely celebrated bronze in the men’s air rifle, contributed to Argentina’s medal count, defeating the Indian pair along with Russo. The Indians started strong with a 6-0 lead, but the final score tilted in favor of the host nation at 13-17.
During the gold medal match, the Indian pair performed admirably, but the Chinese shooters displayed exceptional skill and control, concluding the match with a score of 17-9.
Rudrankksh and Arya showcased their best performance from the ninth to the twelfth single-shot series, winning three consecutive rounds and drawing one, but unfortunately, they had left themselves too much ground to cover.
Meanwhile, at the Shotgun ranges, the women’s trap team was unable to advance to the medal rounds, with Neeru being the top performer among the Indians, finishing in 12th place with a score of 115. Pragati Dubey placed 16th with a score of 110, and Bhavya Tripathi finished 23rd with a tally of 106.
In the men’s trap event, veteran shooter Zoravar Singh Sandhu sparked hope with a score of 25 in his final round, totaling 119. However, he would need to succeed in a multi-way shoot-off to secure a single final spot. Prithviraj Tondaiman scored 117, while Lakshay Sheoran finished with 115, placing further down the ranks.
