New Delhi, April 20 (NationPress) The duo of Rudrankksh Patil and Arya Borse secured a silver medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup held in Lima, Peru, succumbing 11-17 to the Norwegian team of Jon-Hermann Hegg and Jeanette Hegg Duestad during the gold medal match at the Las Palmas shooting range on Sunday.

This victory marks India’s third silver medal at the Lima World Cup, complementing two golds and a bronze, positioning them third in the medal table, trailing China and the USA.

Previously, Rudrankksh and Arya accumulated a total of 632.5 to qualify for the gold match, finishing just 0.1 behind the leading Norwegian team. However, they were unable to reverse that dominance in the final against a seasoned pair, both of whom have previously competed in individual Olympic finals.

In a related event, Arjun Babuta and Narmada Nithin scored 630.0, placing seventh in the 24-team competition.

On the same day, Indian shooters could not reach the Trap finals.

Pragati Dubey achieved the best score in the women’s trap with 113, finishing seventh, while Bhavya Tripathi and Neeru scored 110 and 105, placing 12th and 18th respectively.

In the men’s trap category, Prithviraj Tondaiman and Zoravar Sandhu posted qualifying scores of 117 and 116 but were unlikely to advance. Lakshay Sheoran, who had one more round to play, was also not expected to qualify with a maximum potential score of 118.

Three Indian competitors also participated in the women’s 25m pistol event, with the initial dueling round taking place that day. Manu Bhaker scored 291 (96,99,96), placing her second overall, while Esha Singh was also in contention with a score of 289, currently in sixth place. Simranpreet Kaur Brar recorded a score of 286, landing her in ninth position.

The trio will return on Monday, the final day of competitions, for the second rapid-fire round, aiming for a spot in the finals thereafter.
