Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Singapore, April 20 (NationPress) A dynamic mix of Indian golf legends and promising newcomers from India's vibrant Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) are set to compete against Asia's finest at the Singapore Open, which is part of the International Series and the Asian Tour.
The US$ 2 million Singapore Open, staged at the Serapong course at Sentosa Golf Club, is the second event this year in the series backed by Liv, following a successful tournament held in Japan last month.
This seven-member team includes five players who have already achieved success on the IGPL Tour within the last eight months. Among them is Pukhraj Singh Gill, the 2025 IGPL Order of Merit champion, and Sachin Baisoya, who recently triumphed at the IGPL Invitational Mauritius hosted by Leander Paes.
Also joining the competition is Karandeep Kochhar, a past winner on the ADT Tour in Egypt in 2025, as well as the victor of the AM Green IGPL Invitational Dubai in December 2025.
Notably, Gaganjeet Bhullar, who has the most wins in IGPL history, stands out as the most successful Indian on the Asian Tour with 11 victories. At 37 years old, Bhullar is already celebrated as a legend in Indian golf, placing third on the all-time Asian Tour wins list.
Joining him is Jeev Milkha Singh, widely regarded as the greatest professional Indian golfer ever, with six Asian Tour victories, four Japan Tour wins, and four DP World Tour wins. Jeev has a memorable history at the Singapore Open, having won it in 2008 at the same Sentosa Golf Course. He recently broke a long title drought by winning the AM Green IGPL Invitational Colombo in December.
The Indian contingent also includes SSP Chawrasia, a six-time Asian Tour winner and two-time Indian Open champion, whose six victories include four on the DP World Tour, co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour.
Shiv Kapur, the former Asian Tour Rookie of the Year in 2005, continues to excel with four wins in Asia, and like Jeev and Bhullar, he has competed in the Majors.
The IGPL Tour 2026 is already in full swing, with three events completed thus far: Bhullar won the first in Chandigarh, followed by Baisoya's victory in Mauritius and Udayan Mane in Joburg, South Africa.
