Indian Golfers Shine on Day One of US Kids Indian Championships; Pritish Scores 66

Gurugram, Dec 11 (NationPress) Indian golfers showcased their skills on the opening day of the fourth edition of the US Kids Golf Indian Championships at the Classic Golf and Country Club. Many of the leaders from the first round have previously triumphed in local tour events and have also secured medals in past Indian and international competitions.

A total of 79 players from seven nations are participating in this event, which offers WAGR points along with Junior Scoreboard and AJGA rankings, assisting players in qualifying for major US Kids international events.

The event, spanning three days and comprising 54 holes, featured an impressive performance from Pritish Singh Karayat, who recorded a score of 6-under 66, establishing a six-shot advantage over three other competitors. He achieved eight birdies, with four on each side of the course, and had one bogey on each side as well. Vivaan Ubhayakar, Armaan Thapar, and Ranveer Singh Dhupia all finished with even par 72 at the course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

In close contention were Arshvant Srivastava and Sidhant Nathan, both recording scores of 2-over 74, setting the stage for a thrilling contest over the next two days.

Nihal Cheema in the Boys 7-under category posted a score of 2-under 34 for a nine-hole round, while Kabir Goyal scored 71 (-1) in Boys 9, Jot Sarup Gupta also scored 71 (-1) in Boys 10, and Sohraab Singh Talwar completed the round with a score of 72 (Even) in Boys 11, all showcasing strong performances.

Cheema had four birdies against three bogeys, while Kabir Goyal also recorded four birdies and three bogeys. Jot Sarup achieved two birdies against one bogey in Boys 10, whereas Sohraab had four birdies and four bogeys.

Among the girls, Naina Kapoor delivered an excellent performance with a score of 2-under 70, leading her category with five birdies and three bogeys. Shambhavi Chaturvedi scored 75 to lead in the Girls' 13-14 category. Ahana Shah (37) and Aahana Shrivastava (38) were in a close contest in the Girls 7 and under category.

The three-day championship awards Priority Status, which can assist golfers in qualifying for major US Kids events, including regional, international, European, World teen, and world championships. This marks the fourth edition of this prestigious junior international championship.
