New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) Special Olympics Bharat hosted a spectacular send-off event for its 49-member team (including 30 athletes and 19 support staff) set to represent India at the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 in Turin, Italy.

The event was attended by Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mallika Nadda, President of Special Olympics Bharat, and V.K. Mahendru, Executive Director of Special Olympics Bharat.

“Our remarkable Indian athletes participating in the Special Olympics World Games exemplify the spirit of determination, resilience, and excellence. Your commitment and enthusiasm inspire the nation, demonstrating that true strength lies in the courage to break through limitations. The entire country is eagerly anticipating your performances. Raise the tricolor high with your achievements; the whole nation is behind you,” remarked Mandaviya.

The Special Olympics Winter World Games, set to occur in Italy from March 8 to 15, will feature 30 members from Team India competing across 6 sports disciplines - Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Floorball, Short-track Speed Skating, Snowboarding, and Snowshoeing. This prestigious event will unite 1500 athletes from 102 nations, competing in eight sports categories.

The esteemed guests extended their best wishes to the Indian athletes and encouraged them with motivating words as they prepare to bring pride to the nation on an international platform. The athletes received garlands and were presented with traditional Himachali Woolen Caps as tokens of good fortune at the conclusion of the ceremony.
