New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) Continuing their impressive performance from the first day, Indian athletes displayed remarkable skills on the second day of the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025. With two golds, two silvers, and one bronze earned across two sports, India's total medal count has risen to nine.
Snowboarding, which had already contributed four medals on the opening day, added two more to the tally on Wednesday. Bharti (division F25) achieved a gold medal in the Novice Slalom Final, while Harshita Thakur (division F26) took home a bronze in the same event. This marks Bharti’s second gold medal in the competition, and Harshita had claimed a silver on the first day.
The Indian team also excelled in Alpine Skiing, securing one gold and two silver medals in this discipline. Nirmala Devi (division F06) won gold while Radha Devi (division F01) earned silver in the Intermediate Giant Slalom Final. Additionally, Abhishek Kumar (division M02) captured silver in the Novice Giant Slalom Final, further enhancing India’s remarkable medal tally.
Anoop Kumar Sharma, the head coach for Snowboarding, commended the athletes’ performances, stating, “We are incredibly proud that our athletes have commenced the Special Olympics World Winter Games campaign on such a triumphant note.
