New Delhi, May 9 (NationPress) Following the BCCI's decision to suspend IPL 2025 for a week, both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have announced the commencement of the ticket refund process for their upcoming home matches against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

LSG, currently ranked seventh, was scheduled to host the second-placed RCB at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday evening. Meanwhile, the eighth-placed SRH was set to face off against the sixth-ranked KKR at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday.

However, both matches have been cancelled due to the tournament's suspension for a week, triggered by escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. “In light of the current situation, #TATAIPL2025 has been suspended with immediate effect. Ticket refund details will be communicated shortly,” SRH stated on their ‘X’ account.

On the other hand, LSG announced on Instagram, “Tonight’s match at BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium has been cancelled. Details regarding ticket refunds will follow.”

The decision to halt IPL 2025 for a week came after tensions intensified on Thursday night, leading to power outages in Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot, as air strikes and drones from Pakistan filled the skies.

This situation led to the cancellation of the game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, just 80 kilometers away from Pathankot, after only 10.1 overs of the first innings. With the airport in Dharamshala and other northern Indian cities closed, it created logistical issues for the BCCI to ensure the safe evacuation of all stakeholders from the hill station.

Consequently, players and support staff of both PBKS and DC, along with match officials, commentators, broadcast crew, and other key IPL personnel were evacuated via bus to Jalandhar on Friday morning, where a special train was arranged to transport them to New Delhi. To date, IPL 2025 has completed 58 matches, with 12 more to be played in the league stage before the playoffs commence.

While the suspension of IPL 2025 is unfortunate, it is a necessary measure in light of the current geopolitical climate. The safety of players and fans must always come first.
