Bengaluru, March 14 (NationPress) Dinesh Karthik believes that the Indian Premier League (IPL) has fostered a winning mindset among Indian cricketers over the years.
“The IPL has cultivated a winning mentality in all our players. With the surge of financial resources and the economic advantages many teams enjoy, a significant portion has been reinvested into infrastructure. As infrastructure develops, the overall quality of the sport improves,” he stated during a discussion with Mo Bobat, Director of Cricket at RCB, and former England cricketer Isa Guha, at the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit.
The ex-India wicket-keeper further remarked, “We can observe that since the IPL has become integral to Indian cricket, the nation can now field two to three teams in international cricket simultaneously, competing effectively with each one. Currently, India enjoys a unique advantage with a diverse range of cricketers across various skill sets.”
Reflecting on his time alongside Glenn McGrath during the early days of the IPL and how it influenced his gameplay, he noted, “For me, the entire philosophy of Australian cricket at that time was a huge revelation. They operated like a pack of wolves, determined to win every match. However, during my first year in the IPL, I had the opportunity to train closely with Glenn McGrath. Getting to know him personally boosted my confidence and competitive mindset against top players,” he shared.
The second edition of the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit powered by Leaders is taking place on March 14 and 15 in Bengaluru at the Padukone Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence.
Alongside cricketers Dinesh Karthik, Isa Guha, and RCB’s Director of Cricket Mo Bobat, the event is expected to feature Virat Kohli, an international sports icon and RCB player, two-time Olympic medallist and former India hockey player PR Sreejesh, and Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
