New Delhi, Feb 27 (NationPress) Arun Dhumal, the chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has expressed his condolences following the death of cricketer Rinku Singh’s father, Khanchand Singh. During this challenging time, he extended his sincere sympathies to Rinku and his family. Khanchand Singh was receiving treatment for stage 4 liver cancer at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida when he passed away on Friday.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Rinku Singh’s father. My heartfelt thoughts are with Rinku and his loved ones. I hope Rinku can realize all the aspirations his father had for him and continue to make our nation proud,” Dhumal shared with IANS.
Rinku's father was critically ill and on ventilator support, which led the cricketer to return home earlier this week. Despite this, Rinku managed to rejoin his team for the Super Eight match against Zimbabwe, although he did not make it onto the playing XI. He participated in the game as a substitute fielder.
In addition, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla expressed his condolences via social media, stating, "The news of cricketer Rinku Singh’s father, Shri Khanchand Singh, passing away is profoundly upsetting. During this trying time, my sincere sympathies go out to Rinku Singh and his family. May God grant them the strength to cope with this significant loss," Shukla posted on X.
The 28-year-old batsman, who was a last-minute addition to the World Cup roster, has struggled to meet expectations, accumulating just 24 runs in five innings so far.
Rinku Singh, who has played for India in white-ball formats and competes in domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh, is recognized as one of the promising finishers in shorter game formats.
